In 2006, China quickened the pace of its "Going Abroad" strategy.

The total amount of direct foreign investment by China's non-finance industries reached US$16.1 billion. This was a 32% increase from 2005, according to the statistics from China's Ministry of Commerce.

The accumulative direct foreign investment amount of Chinese enterprises is expected to exceed US$60 billion between 2006 and 2010. The total amount of China's direct foreign investment increased by over 30% in 2007.

During 2005-2006, the overseas merger and acquisition of Chinese enterprises witnessed unprecedented growth. Chinese leading enterprises launched many overseas merger and acquisition campaigns, among them Lenovo, China NetCom, CNOOC, CNPC, China Minmetals, Nanjing Automobile and Shanghai Automobile.

Chinese enterprises' overseas mergers and acquisitions have been characterised by complexities of contracts, competition and integration.

The International Capital Conference will focus on private equity, IPOs and Mergers & Acquisitions for Chinese enterprises in the UK market.
